You watch the news and know the effectiveness of mask-wearing. There is new evidence that in addition to protecting those around you, the mask wearer’s risk is cut by as much as 65% over someone who avoids wearing masks. Wearing a face covering, avoiding crowds, practicing social-distancing and hand washing together, would enable us to flatten the curve and safely open schools and resuscitate the economy.

Georgia has suffered more than 3825 deaths from COVID-19. New evidence shows that 260 children attending camp in Georgia tested positive for COVID19. In Georgia, 9600 healthcare workers have been infected. Hospitals are hurting financially and are running at capacity and the state was forced to reopen the World Congress Center. Last week, a House subcommittee on Coronavirus sent a letter to Governor Kemp (and other governors) stating that Georgia is not in compliance with task force recommendations and requested detailed plans for dealing with the pandemic.
Contact Governor Kemp with the suggested script:
Georgia is not in compliance with the Covid19 task force recommendations which say that states in the red zone, among other things, should mandate face coverings. Your request for Georgians to voluntarily wear masks has failed. It is time for you to mandate that Georgians “mask up.” As of August 1, 3825 Georgians have died. How many of those deaths could have been prevented if you had been proactive and mandated masks?

The Coronavirus Relief package expired leaving 30 million Americans with income insecurity due to the loss of $600 in enhanced weekly unemployment benefits Thirty day eviction notices can again be sent to renters. Congress returned to home states leaving Speaker Pelosi, Secretary Mnuchin, Chief of Staff Meadows, and Minority Leader Schumer to negotiate an agreement of a continuing aid package. According to The Hill, there is a long way to go before an agreement is reached.
Contact Senators Loeffler and Perdue with the suggested script:
My name is ---- and I am from -----. Georgians are under great duress as unemployment soars, businesses continue to permanently close, and COVID 19 cases spread exponentially. The HEROES Act includes extended unemployment insurance, hazard pay, rental assistance, an eviction moratorium, additional health care standards, and funding for safe elections. Insist on these crucial provisions as the Senate readies for a vote on the next relief package.
