How are you holding up?

Dear ener-G-savers,

Not exactly the summer we had hoped for! Who would have thought we'd still be dealing with Covid, with so much uncertainty everywhere we look. We at ener-G-save hope you and your family and friends are doing okay, staying healthy, and finding ways to get whatever help you might need.

Amidst this pandemic and the urgent reckoning with racial equity, there are good opportunities that
will help you save energy AND money. Below, we'll tell you about some programs that can help and their extended deadlines. Not everything is closed! Please read and spread the word.

Here's the scoop on how you can save money and be more comfortable in any season.

Because the utility companies had to cancel energy efficiency work during the pandemic, they're eager now to do what they can to increase our savings, for the sake of our planet, and for the sake of our wallets. They've extended the dates for amazingly generous financial incentives to help us get the work done.

For residences (homeowners, renters, and landlords) you have till the end of September to line up an audit (it may be virtual). For small businesses (and this includes schools, places of worship, nonprofits) you have till the end of August to have an audit and sign a contract for the work. In both cases, there are possibilities for 100% of recommended and approved insulation to be covered for you.

Things are changing all the time, and that includes the world of Mass Save programs and the utilities. So act now to save. You can read details about all the programs available
HERE including how to set up your audit.

When the temperatures rose...

When we heard that some of the local cooling centers weren't opening because of Covid, we were concerned and decided to donate wearable cooling products: wraps that only require water to cool the wearer for hours.

We have donated 1200 of these "Coolers" to those in Springfield who are homebound, quarantined, recovering from COVID, and/or without a/c. Thanks to the teams at the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts, Arise, and REVITALIZE for helping to distribute them to those who can most benefit.

Another 1000 went to Springfield Public Schools for students in need. Thank you to the office of Assistant Superintendent Lydia Martinez for taking such care while administrators are so busy planning for the fall.

Need something to do as a family this summer?

Check out this list of green activities that can be done safely during this time.   Have fun!
