Let's go to the beach!

Two Sympathy Cards

I never have sympathy cards made ahead and I needed to make two this week.  The 5x7 Strathmore Watercolor Cards (and envelopes) are my go to for watercolor.  The paper is wonderful and all I do is paint the front and stamp a sentiment on the inside.

This first card was my "blob" flowers technique and it came together really fast.  If you're interested in my approach, I started with a wet on dry technique using the lightest pink and proceeded to paint the 5 (odd number!) flowers.  I try to tip them at different angles.  Next I put a little darker paint on my brush and kind of dabbed in color from the bottom and worked up near the top.  Another darker layer that starts at the bottom again and only goes up a little bit.  The stems and leaves were painted next.  Don't know what made me paint wispy leaves but I like them!  Splatter last.

This card is for a man here in Florida so I painted my favorite tree!  It's very calming to paint all those fronds in little flicking motions.  I like to use a couple of shades of green.

Painting Time in Florida

One night this week I got into a painting frenzy and cranked out the next 3 paintings!  Might have been some wine involved, which brings out my free creative spirit.  LOL

My absolute favorite moment is taking them to Hobby Lobby in Clay, NY for framing!  I know the staff well and it's fun to see the painting come to life with matting and framing.  I've painted so much this year, I take 2 paintings at a time to get framed!  At this rate, all my Christmas gifts will be ready real soon and I'll enjoy adding to my walls.

The first 11x14 size painting is inspired by a Pinterest pin.  Again, I love painting palm trees and that was added during a second painting session.
Next is another Pinterest pin I've been wanting to paint for awhile.  I love how the sky looks a little stormy or misty!  It's 9x12 in size.
I have had this Angela Fehr Pinterest pin for a very long time and have attempted this at least 4 times and failed miserably every time.  For whatever reason, it finally came together!  It's a 9x12 size.

Have a pleasant week!

XOXO
