Returns, renewals, and overdues
By now, many of you will have gotten an automated email from our library telling you about some lost or overdue items. We are working on updating these automated processes, but for now, we ask for your patience as we figure out how to deal with technical limitations and workflow disruptions. Keep in mind the following:Although there are no daily overdue fines on items checked-out in Sun Prairie, there are overdue fines on items checked out elsewhere. You may still see fines on your account. If you have concerns about them, please contact staff via our website.
- Items that remain overdue for 29 days automatically become "Lost." This process is automated and can only be changed manually by staff updating each account individually. There are thousands of people who have checked out items this summer, so please be patient as we address these issues.
- The library is not sending any accounts to Collections. This is an automated message that we cannot change.
- From here on out, with our regular Express Service hours, all due dates and hold expiration dates are accurate. Holds expire after 7 days. Items have normal due dates. We will not be extending expiration dates or due dates, except for renewals.
- We have yellow return bins in our lobby area every day, Monday - Saturday, during Express Service hours. Please use those bins for returns!
- We still have to quarantine all items for 4 days, so when you see items on your account that you have already returned, this means they are in quarantine. Please allow 5-7 days for us to check in items before you contact the library with questions.
