Wear A Mask
As DC continues the battle to contain coronavirus, face masks are proving to be one of the most effective tools to curb the spread, protect ourselves and protect others. Given the District's mask mandate and knowing the power of art to inspire and spur action, NoMa BID asked four DMV artists to share their artistic expressions to deliver one simple and clear message: Wear A Mask.

We love what Kelly Towles, Tenbeete Solomon AKA Trap Bob, and the duo of Hanna Moran and Lindy Swan each created, and are giving you a sneak peek of the art that you'll soon seen blanketing the streets, offices, restaurants and apartment buildings in NoMa. Email marketing@nomabid.org if you'd like a free Wear A Mask poster to display and help spread the word!

The Art Must Go On
Since 2013, the NoMa Lobby Art Project has been utilizing the lobby at 1200 First Street NE to build social capital in the neighborhood and engage audiences through art by unveiling new installations by local artists every quarter. With most of us WFH these days, we postponed our regular, in-person exhibition. Instead, we're sharing this video to unveil Bound Together created by DMV artist Alexandra Arata.

The Curator of the NoMa Lobby Art Project Andrea Limauro explains why Bound Together is the perfect antidote to these times of social turmoil commenting, "the work inspires us to reconsider the ways we are bound together, and only together can we work to create a better, more just society."

You'll get to vote for your favorite and compete for prizes!

Take the Census
YIKES! The U.S. Census Bureau just announced that all counting efforts for the 2020 Census will end on September 30 - one month sooner than previously planned! This means that all door-knocking efforts and collecting responses online, over the phone and by mail will end next month.

Mayor Bowser reports that only 58% of DC residents have completed the Census, which informs billions of dollars of federal funding for our city and provides data that is important to our community for the next decade. Completing the Census takes less than five minutes. If you haven’t received or can’t find your Census questionnaire, you can complete online or over the phone. Support the District by making sure you’re counted!
