Dads Can Save America

2 Timothy 3:5
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Dad, we need you at home providing thrills and the inevitable spills in an emotionally safe place.

We need you at home, so much more than fighting socialism from your keyboard, or masks at Walmart.

I worry for our nation too.

"Father God, show mercy to America. We deserve your wrath, your anger is against us and we are wrong, but in justice remember mercy."

I hate what’s happening in Portland and our other great cities.

But at the same time we are fools to use all our resources fighting to pass legislation to defend values that we haven’t even passed on to our children.

I’m done with whatever is left of the culture wars.

Unhitch me from every political movement.

I’ll vote, of course, but no one should take my vote for granted just because whoever is running the website can spell “family values.”

I remember watching President Carter on the television, while I and my 1st grade classmates fasted and prayed daily for the release of American hostages from Iran. I go way back on caring about and praying for this country.

But ultimately, I’m a monarchist and my king is coming.

Here’s the war I’m more interested in.

Nightly hand to hand combat with your 6 yr old.

Body slamming your boy into the pool.

Throwing your little girl “So high!” into the air that she spits in danger's face before falling into daddy’s strong arms.

Over passing any law drafted by any civil body, just give me 10 men who will pass on to their families the power of godliness, the form of which those laws are to secure.

Let us teach our children not just the forms of godliness that have made the nation good (personal sacrifice, patriotism, courave, justice, equality) but the power thereof. (Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection in our place for our sins.)
