This is the latest of our weekly newsletters for staff about the work underway to ensure the continuity of Teaching, Learning and Assessment for our students during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Today we are covering:

Adapting teaching and learning in 2020/21

To guide each academic department's planning for teaching, learning and assessment in 2020/21, we published the University's strongly preferred model for teaching and learning earlier in the year. We have now added to this with specific guidance on:

This adds to the collection of guidance on moving to blended learning next year and is supported by a series of workshops with the Learning Design Consultancy Unit that continue to run through August.

Help with reading lists and online resources

The University aims for all students’ essential and recommended readings to be available online for 2020/21 to ensure flexibility and resilience in the current challenging circumstances. As we all work towards this goal, the Library has put together a guide to help colleagues through the process.  It dispels some of the commonly-held myths/misunderstandings about e-books and flags up some of the pitfalls to avoid.  Better still, the guide shares tips for success and shows how the Library can help you at this busy time.  For more information, visit the Library's website

Introducing Padlet: a new tool for teaching

In addition to the tools already detailed in the Teaching Tools We Use guidance, Academic Technology are introducing a new tool called Padlet. You may already be familiar with Padlet, which enables you to create online boards where students and tutors can share ideas and collaborate. With a variety of board types, support for files and multimedia and simple sharing options, Padlet is a versatile tool to add to our existing toolset. If you are already using Padlet, you can transfer your existing Padlets to our Warwick Padlet. If not, sign up for an account and start exploring Padlet today. We will also be holding a workshop on Padlet on Wednesday 12th August at 14:00 along with other workshops being run by LDCU. Further information on Padlet, including how to set up an account and FAQs can be found on our website.

Student Immigration updates

We have updated the 'Staff FAQ - offer holders for 2020/21 entry' webpage with the latest 'course registration deadline' and 'physical arrival deadline'. These two deadlines are for international students, for all levels of study and all academic departments, and have been updated since 30 July 2020.  There are a high volume of offer holders querying about these deadlines and if you come across any, you can find the information on the above page. All student-facing webpages have been updated so please do continue to signpost offer holders to the student-facing webpage: New Student FAQ

Queries?

We have launched the Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) Helpdesk as a single place for TLA-related queries to central teams during the Covid-19 situation. We have a dedicated team managing the Helpdesk to ensure your query is resolved sooner and always gets to the right specialist team when needed.
