EID MUBARAK FROM THE MARKAZ

The Markaz sends a warm Eid Mubarak to all those in our community observing Eid al-Adha! We wish you prosperity, joy, and peace always, but especially now, in these times of uncertainty. May you and your loved ones be safe and well.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS
Lead an academic and mentorship program for South Asian youth. The South Asian Winter Camp (SAWC) is seeking Stanford student leaders to co-create a two-week online educational program for South Asian youth held during Winter Break 2020. The project aims to bring together college students and South Asian youth to explore their academic interests, discuss personal and professional goals, and create local and sustainable mentorship models between high-school and undergraduate students. Review the open positions on the leadership team and apply by August 1st here.
Join a summer series on faith and racial justice through the Office for Religious Life. Led by Rev. Lynice Pinkard and Rev. Nichola Torbett the series will engage participants in thinking about the intersection of their faith and the struggle for racial justice in a time when anti-black racism continues to harm our country and communities. Sign up for Sitting with the Trouble: Spiritual Tools for Ending Racial Terror held on Mondays, August 3-24 from 4 - 5:30 PM PST here.
Fill out this survey to support QueerSalam. QueerSalam is a Stanford affinity group for Queer and Muslim students. Their definition of Queer and Muslim broadly includes folks who are Queer and have some relationship to Islam, be it actively practicing, being culturally Muslim and not necessarily practicing, or being ex-Muslim. This survey is meant to be filled out by Queer and Muslim folks, as well as their allies.
Apply for funding for a remote public service internship in the upcoming academic year. The Haas Center Cardinal Quarter Fellowship allows continuing undergraduate students to design and implement a remote, full-time, service experience with a qualified host organization during the fall, winter, or spring quarter.
