Dear Families,

Since the start of the week, our school’s COVID-19 Response Team (CRT) researched additional data, sought feedback from the Lexington Health Department as well as health professionals, and most importantly, prayed about the first day of school. Additionally, we evaluated the benefits of delaying our first day of on campus learning until August 19. We determined moving the start of school out a week would:

• Show community concern by accommodating public health requests
• Provide an extra week for teacher training and preparation
• Allow families to complete summer travel plans while still complying with the travel advisory for a safe return
• Give further opportunity to work with health departments on readiness and contingency plans

There is no playbook for COVID-19 but we do have God’s Word to seek for guidance. I was reminded of Philippians 2:4 “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.“

As we are all working together toward our common goal of being back on campus, we ask, “What can you do to help us re-open our campus in a healthy and safe manner?”

• First, and foremost, we ask you to join us in prayer.
• Second, we ask you to adopt and adhere to all of the guidelines set forth to keep our LCA community healthy and safe.

We are excited to re-open our campuses with in-person instruction on August 19 and provide a healthy-at-school experience that will benefit all of our students academically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. We look forward to seeing you in-person on Wednesday, August 19.
