The Community Purchasing Alliance (CPA) is a member-owned cooperative and affiliate of Metro IAF. CPA helps participating schools, congregations, and other non-profits leverage their buying power to accelerate progress towards a more equitable and just economy. In 2019, CPA facilitated $17 million in purchasing with $7.9 million in spend invested in women, black, and POC owned businesses.
This is an extraordinary moment to be a cooperative that claims alignment with economic, racial, and environmental justice. Rapidly responding to COVID-19, CPA partnered with Metro IAF leaders to organize bulk PPE purchases throughout the summer. To-date, 154 organizations have purchased $560k in PPE including masks, face shields, gloves, and sanitizers, directing 30% of their spend to businesses owned by people of color.

ORGANIZATIONS SAVE BIG WITH CPA'S ELECTRICITY PURCHASE!
Next Up is Push for Affordable & Reliable Gas Rates in DC, MD & VA.
In May, IAF leaders in Connecticut, Illinois, and Massachusetts joined CPA's DC/Maryland group in their largest electricity aggregation to date. 172 organizations collectively purchased $10 Million in electricity, with an estimated savings of 10-20% savings across the group. Across 10 years, CPA electricity contracts have performed better than the standard utility rate 90% of the time, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in collective savings for nonprofits.
On the heels of our successful group electricity purchase, organizations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia are invited to join CPA to secure lower and more reliable gas rates. To date CPA has had 50 congregations, schools, and community organizations submit bills. To indicate your interest in participating and/or to submit your bills click HERE.
