Dear Friend of the Mateel,

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Mateel Community Center has unfortunately had to cancel our beloved Summer Arts and Music festival and Reggae on the River 2020.

The Shelter-in-Place restrictions have made it impossible to have community gatherings, severely limiting our ability to generate income. Without an income, we are solely surviving on our reserves. The reserves were specifically set aside for the production of the Summer Arts and Music festival 2020. These reserves are now being used to pay our monthly expenses, which have been reduced to the bare minimum.

We have to find ways to replenish these reserves to be able to host Summer Arts & Music Festival 2021. We are currently working on alternate sources of income including; renting the commercial kitchen, renting the office, launching an online merchandise store, and utilizing our vast event footage archive.

Our drive-through dinners fundraiser began Friday, June 26th with four different guest chefs cooking meals for sale with donated supplies from the community including support from Chautauqua Natural Foods & Shop Smart in Garberville.

Check our website, Mateel.org for details about upcoming drive through dinner fundraisers. We would love to hear from our Mateel community! We invite you to email us at board@maeel.org with questions, suggestions or concerns. Please consider a donation to help the Mateel get through to better times. Donations can be made on the membership page at: http://mateel.org/become-a-member/ or by mail: Mateel Community Center, P.O. Box 1910, Redway, CA 95560.

Sincerely,

Mateel Board of Directors
