Rather than bury these artist's upcoming shows in the last newsletter, I thought to send an extra to highlight them today!

Michelle Nyberg is this coming Saturday to Tuesday.
David Cloud and Tara Ireland will start next Wednesday and run for a week.
Note that all of these events mention following safety practices. Please do come prepared and patient to maintain distance and minimize risk. We're grateful they're holding these shows!!

2020 HIAC Shows?
A few people have asked if we'll have any shows this year. In March and April, when we would have finalized our May to September programming, guidelines from our parent funders indicated a level of safety, entrances and exits, our usual spaces could not assuredly provide. The uncertainty made it prudent for us to invest in long term outcomes we could assure, for the Arts Centre, future programming, and renovations of our internal operations.
Of course, we had to postpone the Film Fest and put our show at the Co-op on hold. As things stood, we did need to prepare to empty and sell the trailer, possibly at the drop of a hat—good news there by the way, we are donating it to the Hornby and Denman Community Health Care Society who will generously cover the costs of removal. Thank you HDCHCS!
Unlike a show for an individual or show with a couple friends, at the Hall, we normally host group shows with 30-60 artists participating, involving over 100 pieces. We try to program additional events while we have the Hall booked, performances, etc. We normally have a crew of volunteers to hang and take down the shows, and we celebrate with large gatherings. Physical distancing is challenging, and staffing costs are significant. Given the importance of our community's safety, we are continuing to invest in long-term capacities. Rest assured that when the Arts Centre opens, we'll have solid protocols in place for public enjoyment of this new community space. Methodically, brick by brick, we are transforming.
In the meantime...there is the Studio Tour, and we continue to develop responsive ideas!
