Namchar  l  July 2020
We are heading into the last few month's of the year, and as we are all positive that this year certainly has not turned out the way we imagined it would, it has certainly pushed our boundaries, pulled us out of our comfort zones and forced us to take a step back to realize what is truly important in life. Quality time with family. And nothing says family time like a "lekker" Namchar braai.

We are heading into unknown territory at the moment where the only certainty that we have is that nothing will ever be the same again. Without getting political, we support the #Jobssavelives cause and petition, purely based on the fact that everyone has a right to earn a living and to provide for their family and currently there is an abundance of people, from various industries, who are not able to do so. The actions that have been taken, along with all the decisions that have been made, give the impression that the aim is to create a division but don't ever underestimate the power of South Africans, because when we believe in something we always unite and fight together.

Last month we tried Nachos in the pot (which was an absolute success) so this month we went ahead and gave lasagne in the pot a try! Anyone who has tried this before will know that the process takes a bit longer than what it would if you just threw it in the oven, but that defeats the point of a potjie and a braai!

It's simple, all you need to do is fry your onions and garlic in your potjie, add your mince and spice it the way you like it! Add your preferred sauces and let the mince boil for a bit until the watery sensation has disappeared. Once the mince is cooked - Take it out of the potjie and start layering your lasagne the way you like it! In our case we layered it as following:

- sheets of lasagne pasta (which we placed in water for a bit first)
- a few butternut pieces layered on top of the pasta
- then we added our mince with a layer of cheese/packet cheese sauce

We repeated these layers 3 times and topped it off with a nice handful of grated cheese. We then closed the potjie lid and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes.

A win for the Namibian Charcoal industry! Well done Namibia Charcoal Association and GIZ Namibia
