Final call for interest in Antibody Testing: Action required by Friday 31st July

A couple of weeks ago we shared information regarding expressions of interest for Anibody testing. The CCG has shared that it will continue to process further requests up to Friday 31st July. After this date, no further requests will be acted upon.

Antibody Testing was launched for NHS staff some a little while ago and the CCG have been supporting this for Pharmacy, Optometry and Dentistry staff across Lincolnshire. An antibody test reveals if a person has already been exposed to an infection, by detecting antibodies in their blood or serum, but are not usually used to diagnose current infection as it takes the body some time to produce antibodies. It is for personal interest and data gathering at present - this has no implication for the employer/employee in relation to the results at this stage, nor does a positive result confer any immunity.

If you or a member of your team would like to have an antibody test then please send an email to lccg.stafftestingreferrals@nhs.net by Friday 31st July 2020, clearly marking your email ‘Antibody Testing’ and detailing whether you would be able to attend on a week day or would require a weekend appointment. Tests will continue to be at Cross O Cliff Court, Bracebridge Heath in Lincoln.

We would also like to remind you that this is not a definitive test and the purpose of the test is merely for personal interest and data gathering at present; there is no implication for the employer/employee in relation to the results at this stage, the presence of antibodies does not confer any immunity; and all existing social distancing and isolation requirements must continue to be adhered to.

Preparing for flu vaccinations

As you may be aware, the Department of Health and Social Care has announced the following additional eligible groups, in a move that will now mean that more than 30 million people will be included in the eligibility criteria for 2020-21.

The new additional eligible groups are:

  • People aged 50 to 64;
  • Household contacts of those who are on the shielded patient list; and
  • An expansion of the schools’ programme to include the first year of secondary school (year 7).
Further details of this are yet to be confimred, and guidance with regards to the vaccination programme are expected soon. However, we'd encourage you to think about how you and your team might be able to increase capacity to provide flu vaccines this year.

We will share and signpost you to new information as this is announced.

Bank Holiday Opening: August Bank Holiday and Christmas Day

August Bank Holiday

The deadline for completion of the NHSE team survey regarding August bank holiday opening was the 20th July. However, the local team have indicated that they are still happy to receive information about pharmacies which plan to open, to support local signposting.

You can email them directly, or complete the short form here. Remember that you may also need to make appropriate amendments to your DOS entry if your planned opening differs from the information held.

Christmas Day

The NHSE team have worked through a robust and equitable process to identify pharmacies that they will direct to open on Christmas day. Pharmacies will be receiving letters in the coming weeks to allow for adequate planning.
