COVID-19 Information for Colorado WIC Families - Now Available in Multiple Languages TheCOVID-19 Information for Colorado WIC Families document addresses frequently asked questions and provides up-to-date information about how the Colorado WIC program is providing services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The document has recently been updated and is now available in English, Spanish Arabic, Burmese, Nepali, Russian, and Somali. Clients can access this resource, in their preferred language, via the alert section on the COWIC website. We’ve also added them to the Local Agency COVID-19 Guidance and Resources Google Folder. Please be sure to share this information with families as needed.
Your Feedback Needed: Mindful Moments Survey For the last two months, Warm Connections has been leading us in mindfulness practice to help manage stress and anxiety while increasing feelings of calm and content. Now your thoughts are needed to help us determine if Mindful Moments should continue into August and what other self-care activities you are interested in. Please take two minutes to complete this anonymous survey, even if you never attended a Mindful Moment. In the meantime, Mindful Moments will end on July 29 while we determine the next steps.
Colorado Virtual BIG Latch On Event this Saturday! To kick off World Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month, join Colorado WIC, Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition and community partners for the Colorado Virtual BIG Latch On 2020 on Saturday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is required and the event will include a general session with community breastfeeding and parent resources, plus breakout sessions where families can join to connect with others, share, and get support in small groups.
WIC Breastfeeding Webinars Mark your calendars! Two WIC Breastfeeding webinars are scheduled for August 13 and September 17, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. to provide continuing education on milk supply and coaching. Katie Halverstadt, BSN, RN, IBCLC with Saint Joseph Hospital will provide information and techniques addressing milk supply issues, counseling, and coaching techniques to use with breastfeeding families. The sessions are open to all staff interested, will be recorded, and will provide continuing education credits. Stay tuned for webinar link details.

There may be some confusion for WIC shoppers on what buttons to select on Walmart’s self-checkout screen for eWIC. When the register displays the payment screen, the customer selects “Other Payment Methods”. It will then show a screen where they can select “eWIC”.
