We’re letting you know of a new bill that would potentially expedite forgiveness for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans of $150,000 or less, new funding opportunities, and details of our upcoming events. Read on for more info!

News & Resources 

  • Last week, PA State Rep. Chrissy Houlahan introduced bipartisan legislation alongside MI State Rep. Fred Upton to expedite forgiveness for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans of $150,000 or less. We'll continue to update you as this legislation progress. Find out more here.

  • The White House announced that it would be reviewing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected moves for termination. As the administration conducts the review, those already protected by DACA will be allowed to renew their status for one year. Last October, SBN joined 140 top businesses and trade associations submitting an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of DACA.

  • The Philadelphia Business Journal reports that Philadelphia has extended its ban on indoor dining at restaurants until September 1, after the city has seen another week COVID-19 cases on the rise. The previous ban was set to end August 1.
  • The Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) has released their Stormwater Grant Application Criteria with a deadline of September 15, 2020. This is the only scheduled grant deadline for the next year, and PWD expects this round of applications to be more competitive than ever.

COVID-19 Funding Opportunities 

  • The 2020 Small Business Advantage Grant provides 50% matching grants, up to a maximum of $7,000 to enable PA small businesses to purchase energy efficient or pollution prevention equipment, or adopt waste reduction processes. Apply here
  • The LISC Small Business Relief Grant is now accepting applications for round five of its grants. The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, August. 3, 2020, at 11:59 PM. Find out more info here

  • The PA Statewide Small Business Grants will reopen for its second round of applications sometime in the first week of August. More details are found here.
