Hi everyone,

Thank you for helping us kick off our #LangleyFresh campaign last week.  Our content has been seen by about 30,000 people in the Lower Mainland and we have lots more in store.

Today, we have a few updates and reminders about the campaign and other news including a save the date for the 2019 AGM.  There will be an email coming out soon that is specific to the AGM including a call for nominations so please watch your inbox and our website for that information.

We hope you have a wonderful long weekend.

#LANGLEYFRESH Campaign Update

A reminder that we are going to be posting and tagging lots of specific places, businesses, and ideas to provide some inspiration to visitors. If you have a suggestion for us, or if you would like your business to be included, please reach out.

As I said last week, together we are stronger, we all benefit the most if we tell the #LangleyFresh story together. We've been loving your #LangleyFresh posts, here are a few examples if you need some inspiration:
Keep tagging us, and don't forget that we compiled many images and resources that you are more than welcome to use in the stakeholder kit.  It also has more information on the #LangleyFresh campaign and how you can get involved.
Throughout the campaign we are looking to highlight some of the amazing local businesses and residents that have been particularly resourceful or helpful through this time. If you have examples that you think we should tell the story of please send them our way.  A few stories we have seen include:
  • Summerset Music Festival and the Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival both had large in person events planned for 2020.  Of course they both had to cancel their original plans but are still working hard to provide experiences.   Summerset Sundays start August 2nd at Trading Post Eatery where attendees can still get a live music experience on a small scale.  All proceeds from Summerset Sundays concert series will go towards the Red Door Events Musician Assistance Fund, which supports aspiring BC musicians who are financially struggling due to COVID-19. Red Door Events will be partnering with music stores in our community to qualify students who can no longer afford lessons, instruments, or instrument repairs during this pandemic, in addition to offering support to the professionals who teach them. The Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival has taken a virtual approach that goes far beyond just streaming of performances, they have plans to bring their audience the best of emerging & established artists, free live-streamed shows, interviews with artists, small in-person intimate concerts with headliner acts, contests, dance parties and more!

  • Eagle Acres Dairy Farm has been welcoming people from all over the globe to visit their Dairy Farm since 1999. Schools, groups and families have enjoyed a real working dairy farm in action and learned about, or even helped with, the daily chores. They have over 200 animals including cows, calves, pony, pigs, goats, sheep, bunnies, kittens, chickens and even R2D2, the milking robot.  They had to adapt tours to their farm and are now proudly offering the SaFarmi Drive-Thru experience, providing a safe and fun outing the whole family will enjoy!

  • Chuckling Duckling Farm had just reopened after being closed due to COVID-19 when they experienced a fire that caused them to have to close their shop indefinitely.  Owner Leah had and continues to receive an outpouring of support from her local Fort Langley community while she tried to navigate the devastation of the fire.
