St. Luke GPS

Celebrating God's grace with all people

August 1 - 9, 2020
The story of David and the people of Israel in the Hebrew Scriptures is this: Tired of being assailed and beleaguered?  When will God end all of this? When will “evil doers” stop their attack?  When will redemption take place?
The answer: “Be strong!  Take heart!  Wait for the Lord! … Because the Lord is my light and my ultimate salvation.
We are seeking to reflect the Lord’s light and salvation!
- Pastor Wayne, August Horizon newsletter

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ... I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! WAIT for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, WAIT for the Lord!" - Psalm 27:1-2; 13-14

Before worship starts, each household is encouraged to:
  1. Light a candle (be your own acolyte!). Or, light a lamp.
  2. Open your Bible (a Bible app on your phone is fine) and today's readings.
  3. Prepare a place at a table (coffee table or desk is fine). Do you have a flower you can put in a vase? a cross? Liturgical decorations for "ordinary time," also known as the "green season" of growing and deepening faith?
  4. For the Sacrament of Holy Communion: Prepare a plate with one slice, piece, or loaf of bread to be broken and shared, and enough cups of wine (red, rose or white are all fine) or grape juice for each participant. Cover everything with a clean cloth or napkin.
