The Griffin

Being open again in Cornwall has been good for all of us.  The Old Coastguard looks magnificent in its new post-fire clothing and The Gurnard’s Head’s untouchable position in the middle of nowhere has rarely felt as relevant as it does now.  And both teams are on fine form and give the lie to the notion that no-one wants to go back to work.

Now it’s Wales’ turn.  We plan to open at The Griffin from lunchtime on Tuesday 4th for eating indoors and from the 5th for staying.  As long as the Man from Cardiff Bay doesn’t get the heebie jeebies.  Feel able to book to eat by going to our website and clicking on the Book a Table button.  Or to enquire about room availability, drop our team an email here.

That should be enough from us for a while, we’ve bothered you more than we’d ordinarily like to in recent weeks.  In the meantime, have fun and be (generally) good.

Open for Eating in Wales

Eating in Wales
We open indoors at The Griffin from lunchtime on Tuesday 4 August (#EatOuttoHelpOut will apply: see below).  Rooms can be booked from the following night.  When lockdown came, it was at a moment when we were misty-eyed about the work being done from our kitchen under Nick Brodie’s leadership.  He’s back with his team and raring to go.  If you’d like to join us, we’re encouraging you to book online via the Book a Table button on our home page

Our booking confirmation will include all you need to know about anything that might be a little different from before.  Or, to find a decent summary of our approach to operating sensibly in a Covid world, click here.
Remember that the rules in Wales may be very slightly different from England.

Come and Stay in Wales

We open our bedrooms at The Griffin from Wednesday 5 August.   We’re asking for guests to stay for 3 nights where they can, but we’re completely happy to consider 2 night stays here where this isn’t possible, so feel free to ask.  Availability in August is looking pretty good so please come to see us if you’ve a gap in your diary.   Our 4+ night Summer Holiday offer starts from £760 for two people for room and dinner each night.

For those looking a bit further out, the September Sleepover returns from Monday 31 August and is fine value from £360 for two nights’ Dinner B&B.  Availability is narrowing somewhat through September but, for those with longer horizons, our Winter Escape will be in place from when the clocks return to GMT and our plan is to hold last year’s prices (from £175 per night for Dinner B&B).  Quiz us on availability here.

#EatOuttoHelpOut

#EatOutToHelpOut
We’ll be participating in the UK Government’s new scheme in both Wales and Cornwall.  Up to £10 off your eating and drinking.  3 - 31 August.  Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  Rather than ask you to mention it when booking, we’ll simply apply the discount to your bill when you are with us.  Click here to book to eat in Wales.  Our Cornwall dining rooms are booking up rather more quickly than we expected but our teams would encourage you to book via the booking buttons on the websites rather than calling or emailing.
