Greeting SMHS Band Families, the quote above has never rung more true especially in light of all the twists and turns we've taken thus far in 2020. But as they say, "The show must go on!"
Your band directors, teachers, coaches and band boosters are 100% committed to carrying on the great tradition of delivering the best music programs in San Diego County. Although this year's music programs will look different than prior years, all the amazing benefits your student gains for being involved are still ringing true. In addition to the academic benefits, music has been proven to reduce anxiety while improving overall mood, which we all need during these unprecedented times.
Our "new normal" has given us an opportunity to reassess how we will go about fundraising for the San Marcos Band programs in 2020/2021. Live events are on hiatus for the next few months and many families may be experiencing additional financial pressures. We will be providing families more ways to help support our students while also expanding our "fundraising footprint" via a variety of online and outdoor fundraising opportunities including:
Be on the lookout for additional communications surrounding these important fundraising opportunities. Although we have fewer competitions and events, we plan on giving your students the advantage of remote coaching support, which makes up a significant portion of our annual budget. We sincerely appreciate all the support in past years and look forward to making 2020/2021 both unique and engaging for our band students and families.

⚜️Bertrands Instrument Maintenace Fundraiser⚜️
Greetings band families! We have the opportunity to clean and test instruments at Bertrand’s Music & Repair as a fundraiser for our band programs. This will take place outdoors with social distancing, masks, and gloves. There are 10 days available for sign-ups, so that we can limit the number of people gathering together at one time. We understand that comfort levels may vary, and there is no requirement to participate. Students will need to be dropped off and picked up for the event due to the limited capacity allowed.
