STILL NO REPLY...
WHERE IS THE NEW COUNCIL LEADER?
Before Christmas is in full swing, I’d be grateful if you’d read our open letter to the new leader of Haringey Council, Joe Ejiofor.

When we wrote to him in September, he promised to reply within a week. But, in mid-December, we’ve still heard nothing, and we’re out of patience.

Our follow up – and public – letter, has just been posted on the excellent Harringay Online. It’ll give you a sense of quite how unjustified is Haringey's insistence on including the Pinkham Way site in the draft North London Waste Plan (NLWP). As we've said before, it amounts to irrationality.

In fact, we've recently learnt that even a new senior officer at the site's owner, the North London Waste Authority (NLWA), recently described Pinkham Way as 'not ideally suited for waste use'. At last, someone whose NLWA career isn't compromised by having spent years promoting this embarrassing mistake has exercised some objectivity.

Harringay Online is a model community website for local politics; journalists and politicians keep a sharp eye on it. Please feel free to comment under the letter, but you'll need to sign up to do this.

STILL TIME TO SIGN
Postponed from November, the key meeting in which the Haringey Cabinet will vote on whether to take the advice of its own Regulatory Committee and drop the Pinkham Way site from the draft North London Waste Plan will be on Tuesday 22 January 2019.

In the meantime, please sign our petition urging the Cabinet to drop the site, and please pass it on to your local friends, colleagues and neighbours.

As another busy year of our campaign comes to an end, I'd like to thank you again for your support during 2018.

Merry Christmas!
