If all it takes for leaders of the free world to get along are a few cough drops, maybe someone needs to visit the Halls of Medicine before the Walls of Mueller start closing in. Speaking of prison, we know some Republican pols in North Carolina, Michigan, and Wisconsin who might not be passing Go, but heading directly to the bad place. And have Current Occupant & his co-conspirators come up with a new way to steal elections? Better watch out — Nate Silver added a new rating to his predictions: Lean Prison!
Here are some easy, important ways you can fight the Trump regime.
- Take your wall and go home
- Change climate change
- Get in gear in the New Year

Action #1: No dice for ICE
|
|
Deadline: right now - Baby-in-Chief is throwing a tantrum, says he's gonna shut down the government unless Congress gives him $5 billion for his wall and DHS enforcement at the border (more tear gas for real babies?) So far, the House says OK, the Senate says no. Congress should reject this outrageous demand, perhaps by passing a Continuing Resolution, basically authorizing just enough funding to keep the government going until the next Congress takes office. And both Houses should investigate the administration's inhumane immigration policies. Read our article for more info and specific messages for Senators Feinstein and Harris and your member of the House of Representatives.

Action #2: Warning on Warming
|
|
Deadline: today and ongoing - Senators Feinstein and Harris signed a Senate resolution “expressing the need for bold climate action” in response to the recent UN report on global warming. Now it's time for action, in the form of carbon pricing. Bills such as S. 2352, S. 2368, and H.R. 7173 promote different methods of carbon pricing, with different economic theories and ramifications. We want our Senators to take a stand. Read our article for more info and a message you can send to our Senators (even if you're not an expert in the science or economics of climate change).

Hugs, not tear gas!
IEB members and others outraged by the administration’s inhumane and illegal treatment of refugees seeking asylum turned out in force on Saturday Dec. 1 at local protests. Read our report about the spirited Stop the Tears rallies held in El Cerrito and San Leandro.

Rep. Swalwell’s final 2018 Town Hall
Representative Eric Swalwell's Dec. 1 Town Hall in Dublin was his last for the year. CA-15 team co-lead Ward reports that Swalwell discussed issues from impeachment to immigration, and much more. Ward scored a scoop when the Rep. responded to his question about whether he supports House Concurrent Resolution 138, which directs the President to remove United States armed forces from the Republic of Yemen. Read more at Ward's article.

We Could Not Make This Up
|
|
Only Wall Street could conclude that the answer to avoiding #MeToo incidents is to ... not hire women. (Actually, there are other reasons for women leaning in to make it to the C-Suite to rethink that winning strategy ...) It makes perfect sense then, that women are choosing to run the world rather than deal with such bassackwards logic. We say, more power to them. And speaking of illogical contortions: only Rudy Guiliani could conclude that the heavily redacted Flynn sentencing memo equals no collusion — is it just us, or does that look like prison bars when you turn your head to the side?
