Coming up at St Weonard's Church ... December 2018

St Weonard's Church

Sunday 9 December - 9.30am
All Age service
(We always meet on a 2nd Sunday ... not 16 December as indicated in service rota.)

Everyone is welcome to attend our last All Age Worship service of the year this Sunday at St Weonard's Church.  We'll be exploring the theme of 'Light in the Darkness'.  We hope you'll be able to stay for a chat over coffee after the service.

Thursday 20 December - 10.30am
Coffee, Cake & Community in church

Our regular mid-week service in St Weonard's Church.  If you need a lift, please contact Frances Phillips on 01981 240032.  We start with refreshments and a chance for a chat, followed by a short act of worship.  All welcome!

Thursday 20 December - 6.00pm
Parish carol service

This is the great opportunity to bring all your family and friends to our Christmas service of readings and carols.  Children are really welcome.  Members of the benefice choir will be leading us in our singing.  And of course there'll be a chance to catch up with friends afterwards over a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.  Do come, and bring your friends and neighbours!

Monday 24 December - 4.00pm
Crib service

Our short crib service is the perfect way to kick off Christmas.  It's really suitable for young children and families.  Do come along a bit before 4pm to share a hot drink and something to eat!  We would be delighted to give you a free copy of the 2018 Christmas booklet Follow the Star: A Journey through the 12 Days of Christmas at this service.

Monday 24 December - 11.30pm
Midnight communion

The traditional way to start Christmas ... the church bells will ring out to welcome you to our 'midnight communion' service.  Wrap up warm, and join us for this special candlelit event as we remember the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Everyone is welcome.

In other news ...

Huge thanks to Gillie and Peter Hallewell for planning, preparing and co-ordinating such an impressive WWI Exhibition in the church last month.  A sample of photos below.  For more details, see the news report on our benefice website.
Advent Carol Service
On 2 December, people gathered from across the Archenfield Group of churches to celebrate the start of the season of Advent.  See our news item on the website.
And you might be interested to know that the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the adopted BT phone box, to which St Weonards PCC contributed, will be opened officially around midday on 12 December by representatives from the Parish Council, St Weonards Primary School, and our vicar on behalf of the PCC.  We're told a photographer from the Hereford Times will be there to capture the moment.
And finally ...
Happy Christmas!

May you know the presence and peace of Jesus Christ, Immanuel, through Advent and into the season of Christmas.

For those of you wanting to listen to some Christmas music that avoids the usual commercial repeats, why not try the C of E's own #FollowTheStar playlist on Spotify?

Thank you for your support and fellowship this year and we look forward to seeing you again in 2019.
