Sweet December - What a wonderful month December is where we get to celebrate the birth of our glorious saviour, truly Jesus is the reason for the season. Here is a snapshot of some of the events coming up this month.

Sunday 9th December – Stanley Carols. Come along to the Stanley Town Hall for a time of singing carols and a Christmas message from Joel featuring his good friends Mickey and Milly the Monsters.

Friday 14th December – Smithton Christmas Parade. Come dressed as a wise man, an angel, a shepherd or as a gift. We will be meeting at Sean & Rhiannon’s place at 5:30pm with a bbq before we get on the float. Just a reminder, parents are responsible for their children but our float is open to anybody who is willing to dress up and have some fun!

Christmas Services – An outline of the services and their times is below. After our Family Christmas Service on Sunday we will have a bbq, cake and some games on the grass behind the hall.

As we said last month, this is a time of the year where many folk who don’t know the true meaning of Christmas are searching for answers and so can I be encouraging you to be praying for open doors to proclaim Christ, and to act wisely with your friends and families seeking to make the most of every opportunity the season brings. Why not grab a few flyers from the foyer and use them to invite your friends and family to join you at one of our Christmas services???

Redress
As I am sure you have all heard by now, the Diocesan Council has announced the final list of properties to be sold to fund our redress responsibilities. As expected St Bartholomew’s Forest and St Paul’s Church building and Hall in Stanley have been included on that list. The full media statement as well as the final list of buildings to be sold can be found on the diocesan website.

Loosely related to this, it was announced in November that the Anglican cemetery at Montagu is now closed. All this means is that there shall be no further burials take place in the Anglican section of the Montagu cemetery. To be clear, you are still welcome to continue visiting loved ones and there are no plans to reuse the land as anything other than a cemetery.

Nankervises Away
We are going to be taking off after the Christmas morning service but will be back in time for our service on Sunday 30th December.  If for some reason you have an urgent church matter then please contact our secretary Karen Pyke on 0427 396 240. If it is not so urgent then feel free to send me an email and I will get back to you when I return.
