Nanaimo Paddlers Bylaws

Thank you to all members who have read and reviewed our revised Bylaws. We have received some very good suggestions and clarification around Constitution and Bylaws. Our sub-committee has met to do a second revision of our Bylaws to reflect some of the suggestions that were made. Our revised Bylaws will be resubmitted to members as part of our AGM package prior to the meeting. Our AGM is schedule for February 6, 2019 at 19:00 at Beban Park.

Annual Christmas Party

On December 15 over 65 members and friends got together to celebrate the holidays.
Thank you to our many volunteers and organizers. This event could not take place without your support and hard work. Everyone in attendance enjoyed good food and the variety of activities and draws. This was a great event to share among friends and a good opportunity to establish new connections with new members.
A big thank you to our generous Nanaimo Paddler members and friends for your contribution to our Nanaimo Food Bank campaign. We raised 900$ at our Christmas party this year. Many local families will benefit from your generous donation. Merci!
Finally, a big thank you to our sponsors:
  • Blue Dog Kayaking
  • Adenturess Sea Kayaking Adventures
  • Valhalla Pure
  • Ladysmith Maritime Society
  • Coast Bastion Hotel
  • Wine Works
  • Nanaimo Paddlers
Your continued support of our Christmas party fund raising campaign for the Nanaimo Food Bank and the Nanaimo Paddlers Club is greatly appreciated. We know that our members will enjoy the gifts they won this year and that they will continue to support your businesses.

BC Marine Trails Corner:  - by Paul Grey
The BC Marine Trails (BCMT) had a remarkably successful AGM and Winter Forum in November. The association has four returning directors: President (Paul Grey; Nanaimo Paddlers, Cowichan Kayak Club); directors Louise Thompson (Nanaimo Paddlers), and Jerry Kaye and Karen Thrussell (VCKC). We also elected two new directors: Allan Edwin (SKABC) and Robert Holley (Club Locarno). Our speakers this year were Rebecca Grim and Leonie Mahlke. These women paddled from Salt Spring Island to Glacier Bay, filming part of their trip. The session ended with a Skype interview with Leonie, who participated from her home in Germany. The audience really enjoyed the interaction with her. Everyone had a really great time.
