December Newsletter 2018

Kids and Christmas are always together in our minds. Kids love to sing Christmas Carols, but sometimes don't get the words exactly correct. Below are some of the lyrics children think are being sung!

  • Deck the Halls with Buddy Holly
  • We three Kings of porridge and tar
  • On the first day of Christmas, my tulip gave to me.
  • Noel, Noel, Barneys the King of Israel
  • Olive, the other reindeer
  • You'll go down in listerine
Hope that makes you smile. The truth is, even if we don't get the words right, we still have a reason to celebrate.

The Angels appeared to shepherds. Why not the people in town? Was it possible that everyone else was to busy? Even religious leaders? Everyone else was busy caring for the large crowds in Bethlehem. No heavenly announcement could get through all the activity. Has time changed us? Not really. Hopefully not to busy to miss the message. JOY TO THE WORLD!  THE LORD IS COME!

How do we celebrate?
We celebrate with a thankful heart that we are among those who have heard about the birth of Christ. Thankful that we can worship Him!! Thankful for the freedom He has brought in our lives! Thankful for His love to us, in spite of our issues. Thankful for His peace that fills every area of our lives.

Luke 2:10-14  (NKJV)

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Mission News

I'm pictured here with my good friend in Cuba, Pastor Sergio. Michael McCarty, Carlos Zelaya (from Costa Rica) and I will be in Cuba on December 14-18 with the purpose of launching a Ministry Training Institute. I am thankful for this pastor and his family. Because of the generosity of friends, I am taking a new piano keyboard and video camera. I am also planning to buy a small sound system for the church. Thanks to all who helped make this possible. I am thankful, several have contributed to the expenses of my trip.

Thought I would show a picture from the past. About 1987 a lady named Catalina moved from Mexico to Aiken, SC. She and her family attended the church I pastored. She asked for help in building a church in the small pueblo where she lived. I felt the Lord said to help her. What a journey we took! We were threatened, shot at and ridiculed, but we persevered. We built this small building and added bricks to the bottom. About ten years ago, Michael McCarty, Bill Herring and I were in Morelia, Mexico. I asked if we could drive to the small pueblo and see if the church was still standing. Amazingly we found Catalina, who had moved back, and she took us to meet the pastor of a thriving church that came from the small seed we sowed many years ago. Thanks be to God who always causes us to have victory!

God still loves the world! I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to touch 55 nations and a multitude of people in my lifetime. Please pray for our missionaries and the work they do. Many still find themselves persecuted, but they continue to do what they have been called to do. I am grateful to work with so many heroes of the faith.

Ronald's Remarks

What an amazing year. Poland, India, Cuba, Guatemala, Cambodia, China, Philippines and Kenya are countries we have touched this year. Thousands of air miles. Bus rides. Boat rides. Tuk Tuks in Cambodia. No matter what mode of travel, the Gospel continues to be shared. I have the joy of being in partnership with so many churches and people. We make a difference to many. The faithful support given to us keeps us on the road helping the Kingdom of God to expand. Thanks be to God for His faithfulness and your faithfulness.
