A Letter from Your Pastoral Team
Dear Church,
“The time had finally come! It was time to make a grand announcement!” If you are reading along with us in Tell Me God’s Story, our Grace family Advent devotional, you have reached week 3, the section on joy. “The glory of God lit up the night sky” and a host of angels arrived to make the grand announcement to shepherds in a field. “God had sent his much loved Son! This was part of God’s plan! He was making a way!”
The great joy of Christmas is in the celebration that Jesus came to earth, as a baby, in the fulfillment of God’s promises. It was unexpected that Jesus, God’s Son, would come in such humility-–born in a stable to ordinary parents, and announced to shepherds.
May the joy of Christmas become even more real to you this year through the very ordinary experiences that we so often take for granted. Consider ways that you could turn shopping for presents, baking goodies, wrapping presents, and the sometimes stressful tasks of Christmas into significant and joyful experiences. How might you turn these tasks into meaningful ways to share the joy of Christmas with others?
As Christmas approaches, take time to look for joy in the ordinary!
Sincerely,
Barb Hunt
