Indivisible SF

It’s been a wild couple of years of resistance for us all. As we prepare for next year, when so much will change because of the Democratic House majority, we want to take time to reflect on our work and plan for the future.

Here at the Indivisible SF editorial team, we’ve been working hard to provide newsletters and a website that help you stay informed and active. As we head into the uncharted waters of 2019, we hope you’ll take a minute to let us know how we are doing and how we can improve.

We invite you to please take five minute survey here and let us know what you think!

Indivisible SF this Sunday
Join us at this week’s Indivisible SF General Meeting on Sunday, December 16, 4-6pm at St. Mark’s Church - Urban Life Center. We will have three breakouts:
  • Members of Congress Working Group: working with our leaders in DC to build progressive power and resist the Republican agenda. As constituents of Nancy Pelosi, the next Speaker of the House, we have a unique opportunity and lots of preparation to do.
  • State and Local Working Group: building state advocacy. We have a Democratic trifecta in Sacramento and here in San Francisco which gives us the opportunity to make meaningful change and model progressivism for the rest of the country.
  • Actions and Events Working Group: getting creative about standing up, speaking out and social activism.

We are also looking for a graphic designer who can step in and help us out from time to time.

Upcoming Events
Sunday, December 9th, 2pm: 6th Annual Vigil for Victims of Gun Violence at St. Ignatius Church, 650 Parker Ave., SF.  Join this inclusive gathering which will include speeches from Jackie Speier, London Breed, and Catherine Stefani. Gun violence survivors are invited to bring photos of their loved ones to place on the altar. Please RSVP here.

Sunday, December 16th, 10-12pm: Family Holiday March for Migrant Justice at Sue Bierman Park in San Francisco. Join Hand in Hand: the Domestic Employer’s Network to celebrate immigrants. In the spirit of the holidays – which honors family, friendship and the welcoming of strangers – we’ll tell stories of migration, sing carols and other holiday songs, and send our message of justice for immigrants at and within our borders. RSVP here.

Mark your calendar for the National Day of Action on January 3rd. We will unite to show our representatives that we are watching, and that they must follow through on the goals we elected them to achieve.

Local Actions and Allyship Opportunities
Support asylum-seekers. Volunteers and donations are needed at the border right now. This resource list outlines practical ways you can help asylum-seekers who are travelling in the caravan or waiting to cross the border as well as new immigrants newly granted entrance to the U.S. It also offers ways that you can fight the institutional injustices that are driving people to seek asylum here.

Help Camp Fire victims. A makeshift shelter at Chico’s East Ave Church has been housing about 200 evacuees and providing medical care. Many of the evacuees there are elderly or require medical attention, and the church is accepting donations to help offset costs for prescription medicines and other health care needs through its website.
GoFundMe has also set up a page listing the crowdfunding campaigns for the Camp Fire.

The North Valley Community Foundation has two funds: The Camp Fire Evacuation Relief Fund and the Butte County Schools Fire Relief Fund. Donors can make an open gift to the school fund, or designate a specific use, like textbooks or school supplies. Donations are accepted through the foundations’ website.
For more information on how to donate these, see this article.

Keep Fighting,
