December 2018
Dear <<First Name>>,
Welcome to the last BioProNET newsletter of 2018. You've probably heard from our last email that our application to continue BioProNET beyond February 2019 was unsuccessful. However, we are currently looking at ways to keep the bioprocessing community together, and will keep you informed of progress.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
BBSRC Innovator of the Year
This year, BioProNET-members James Winterburn and Ben Dolman won BBSRC Innovator of the Year in the early career researcher category. You can see more about their project in a BioProNET video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW-t_H7E4zY
Nominations are now open for the 2019 award. Winners of each of the four categories – Commercial Impact, Social Impact, International Impact and Early Career Impact – will receive a £10,000 award, with a further £10,000 for the BBSRC Innovator of the Year winner. Further information and links to the application and recommendation forms can be found here: http://bbsrc.ukri.org/innovator
The application deadline is 30th January 2019
Other BioProNET achievements from 2018 included:
Our 5th Annual Science Meeting, held at BMA House in London
3 collaboration building workshops:
Big data and computational methods in bioprocessing
The promise of genome editing: changing bioprocessing, manufacture & more
Bioprocess intensification
And we've continued to produce case studies of the projects that BioProNET has funded. The most recent one is an interview with Dan Smith of Cobra Biologics.
Our interim achievement report was published in March 2018; access it here.
