THE  WEEKLY

HERALD
______________________________________________________________
Daphne United Methodist Church

Dear Church Family,

There is nothing quite like the experience of a Candlelight Christmas Eve service.

Our Candlelight Christmas Eve services will be offered at 4:00 and 6:00pm in the Sanctuary in December 24.

Each service will be identical. We will sing all your favorite carols…O Come, All Ye Faithful…What Child is this…It Came Upon a Midnight Clear…O Little Town of Bethlehem...Angels We Have Heard on High…We Three Kings…Hark the Herald Angels Sing…Silent Night…and Joy to the World.

The Scripture lessons read in each service will begin with the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, awaken us to the words of hope spoken by the prophets, and move us to the stable in Bethlehem, the arrival of the three wisemen and the glorious breaking forth of the light in the Gospel of John. All reminders of God’s promise being fulfilled.

The thrill of looking out over a room filled with families, friends, college students, grandparents worshipping beside grandchildren- who have arrived to celebrate Christmas and little ones whose eyes glisten in wonderment, reminds me how much I love doing ministry.

Create an event on your calendar. Adjust your schedule. Make your plans to gather your house guests and invite your friends. This Christmas Eve, memories will be made as you hold your candle and make the proclamation that “He rules the world…”

The sanctuary will be ready. The lessons are true. And, the Light will surely come.

Faithfully yours,

bill@dumc.org

CHANGE FOR A DOLLAR
Cold weather and Christmas can be difficult when finances are tight, you've lost your job, or there is an unplanned expense. This week we helped a family with some of their utilities.
Mark your calendars for our Kid Zone/Nursery Christmas party, which doubles as December's PNO! The date is Friday, December 14th and the time is 5:30-8:00. We will engage in the usual Christmasy festivities- games, music, a Christmas movie, fun food, cookie decorating, etc. As usual, dinner will be served. The kids and I will discuss the attire Sunday/Wednesday, and I will update you on that. The cost is $10 per child. Please register ASAP.

DUMC,
Wanted to say thank you to my church family for always supporting the scouts and for their assistance in helping with the Pack Breakfast. My family and I are so appreciative of what you all do for an organization that is so near and dear to our hearts. ~ Kelly Dunbar
HOMESTEAD VILLAGE in Fairhope "Huntingdon Church" is in desperate need of a volunteer piano player for both of their 45 minute services. If interested and available, contact Tom Wolfe at 990-6078 or email him at pandtwolfe@aol.com
Our Lifebuilders Class would like to announce that we will begin an in-depth study of the book of Romans, beginning January 6, 2019.

NEW BIBLE STUDY:
Martin Luther called Paul's letter to the Romans the masterpiece of Scripture. It played an important role in the Reformation proving we are justified by faith in Christ, not by works. The early church saw Romans as the most significant letter that Paul wrote. It is the most ordered, complete, and comprehensive statement from his pen. On January 6, the Lifebuilders Sunday school class, led by our own Bible scholar Tom  Wolfe, will be starting the book of Romans. We invite you to join our class on our road to Romans. 10am upstairs in Room #212 of the CLC.
