Columbia River Basin in Peril 
Watershed groups across the State are raising awareness regarding the threat of Quagga and Zebra mussels on our waterways. Swan Lakers Board President, Jeff Kemp, shared the above video with us from British Columbia's Protect Our Freshwater which shows the dangers these mussels pose if introduced.
How to Have It All through Management
Kathy Voth at On Pasture recently released an article on how managing your landscape can increase water, forage and habitat; or how to "have it all." Give the article a read to learn about management practices that help increase water storage, decrease invasive grasses, help native wildlife, all the while increasing their ranching production.
Less Groundwater?
 
As water resource professionals, we are well aware of the need for more information on ground water quality and availability. The University of Arizona has released a study that indicates the fresh ground water table may be more shallow than originally thought. Read the article about the study here.

Rebecca is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to Montana in 1998. Her professional experience is wide ranging, including nine years as the Ruby Watershed Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator for the Red Ants Pants Music Festival, and Executive Director of the Virginia City Area Chamber of Commerce. She is a 2018 graduate of Leadership Montana, and a Gracious Space affiliate of the Center for Ethical Leadership in Seattle. She has a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and minors in Journalism and Equestrian Science from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. She joined the team at Swan Valley Connections in September, 2017.

Rebecca is passionate about conservation of natural resources and preservation of rural life, live music, good food and being an ambassador of love. She enjoys hiking, cross country skiing, fly fishing & horseback riding with her pack of standard poodles.
