Ships Coming In
- by Jim Hallett

It was Monday, December 10, 2018, and President Ken Deemer deferred to John Osten’s quotes of the day, all along the lines of: Don’t wait for your ship to come in; swim out to it…..President Ken then narrated a slide show of multiple projects served up by Rotarians in the past week, including Lido’s holiday party hosted by Lisa Hemmat-Lupercio, the Moffett School’s Operation Teddy Bear, with a video starring Norm Levin and Mark Burton, Sandpiper baskets, and President Ken, his wife Candy and his two sons riding the Santa Float (one child touched Santa Ken’s heart by asking for homes for the homeless)…..We learned that Deb Robertson is the longest-serving woman in the club, joining in 1991.  Deb reminded us of a little history:  LaGayle Black, sponsored by David Hornbecker, was our first woman member, and Edie Weber was our first woman president, who used her position to launch Magic In Giving…..Chris Ullman collected for a holiday gift for our faithful servers.
