<<First Name>>,

The December holiday season is a very special time of year – one of my favourites. It is a time of giving, sharing, and the coming together in our community. We can pause from our daily routines and we take time to be with family, friends and neighbours. It is perhaps the one time of the year when we all can hear the heartbeat of our community.

Read Merrilee's "A Holiday Message"

Though this time of year is centred in traditions, sometimes life changes and the traditions we have need to be adapted. Whether it is a move, or new line of work, or family changes, I believe it is the captivating charm of this season that helps us to remember and honour our old traditions while we start new ones that accommodate – and embrace our new realities. That is the magic of the season; being recharged and refocused with your memories. As I mention to my family, it is important to take the time, make the time for reflection and sharing through this season. Break from routine. Take a break from our online activities, our cell phones… take the time to be present, in the here and now, with the people in our lives. Be sure to embrace this time of year for the humanity and joy it offers.

With this month's newsletter, I present a dozen highlights from my activities through Kanata-Carleton in the past few weeks. I encourage you to check the news section of my website regularly for the latest news. Please do not hesitate to contact my community office (613-599-3000), if I can assist you in any way.

May I take this opportunity to wish you the very best through this holiday season. And may you, family and friends have a wonderful New Year celebration that brings health and happiness throughout 2019.

PS - Please do not miss the invite at the very bottom of this newsletter to my New Year's Levee on January 5th - I would love to see you to cheer in 2019

I was pleased to welcome my colleague, MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy to Kanata. As President of the Ontario Treasury Board, he participated in a roundtable to have a conversation with high tech industry leaders on how the government can transform and modernize core public services.
Hon. Peter Bethlenfalvy and I also toured Kanata North's QNX/Blackberry Autonomous Vehicle Innovative Centre to see how the developing technology is integrated into modern vehicles. More photos from the Minister's visit to Kanata here.
On December 1, I was very pleased to be part of the Kanata Food Cupboard ceremonies that featured the community's generosity at the Unload the Bus event. Many thanks to all who donated and to those who helped unload the buses.
I had a wonderful time visiting and having tea with residents at the Bridlewood Trails Seniors' Residence.  (If you wish for me to attend an event, contact my Community Office by clicking here.)
We have had a busy Fall agenda at Queen's Park. But I have also been busy getting around Kanata-Carleton. I thoroughly enjoy meeting with local business owners like Dan Cowley at Don Cherry's in Kanata South.
I was pleased to visit and tour the new St. Isabel Catholic Elementary School in Kanata to present the school staff and students with a certificate of congratulations.
While at St. Isabel Catholic Elementary School , I had the opportunity to be with the students. This was fun and, certainly, a highlight of my month's tours in Kanata-Carleton.
This photo with Allan Hubley, Ottawa City Counclllor for Kanata South, was taken earlier this Fall. I recently congratulated Allan on his re-election and his new responsibilities as the new Chair of Ottawa's Transit Commission. Congratulations also goes out to Councillors Eli El-Chantiry (West Carleton - March) and Jenna Sudds (Kanata North). I look forward to working with our local Councillors.
I was pleased to tour the Royal Ottawa Mental Health and Care and Research Centre to hear about the important care and research being done to improve so many lives in our community.
What a great milestone passed in our community this Fall at the Diefenbaker Museum. The museum tweeted out: "Thank you again to Dr Fullerton MPP for your support and celebrating 20 years with us!" (If you wish to request a certificate for an organization or person, click here.)
There was plenty of community holiday spirit felt by all those who came out and enjoyed the floats and sunshine at the Santa Claus Parade in Constance Bay. Thanks to the organizers and participants.
Look who I bumped into at the Huntley Community Association Christmas Parade through Carp! Enjoy the merriment of the season!
