FIRST ACTS! LIVE MUSIC LINE UP...

Spine-tinglingly passionate music; cinematic, operatic, dramatic, surreal and radically inclusive; let us introduce, in their own words... Society of Imaginary Friends:

"We are passionate about reality, truth and preserving our beautiful world for all future beings and we dedicate our music to the lonely disenfranchised sensitive furious children of tomorrow’s night and day".

Suzy Condrad aka She, Robot creates powerful, experimental song-driven electronica with a loop pedal, vocals, harmonies, beatboxing, synthesiser, ukulele, autoharp, vocoder, chimes, metallophone, thumb piano, melodica and electronic drums. Wow. Stunning stuff.

Hoopy Frood make beautiful, organic psy-groove-electro-rock full of playful riffs and melodies, dreamy vocals building into fully danceable chill out. With wide ranging influences - from Pink Floyd to Shpongle, Led Zeppelin to Ozric Tentacles - they've been described as playing "perfect festy music”. We agree.

Smiley and the Underclass are a punk reggae explosion nurtured in Japan, the UK and the Caribbean. Mind-melting guitars, razor-sharp lyrics and crushing basslines move mind, body and soul, uniting punk rockers and roots rebels of the modern era. With planetary chaos on the cards and social unrest on the streets, this is the soundtrack of the times. Tune in to the sounds of the revolution.

The Fabulous Red Diesel will be bringing us a wonderful, original, multi-instrumental romp through jazz, swing, latin, blues, soul and funk. Retro/original eclectic with a twist of diva, this is 21st century jazz.

Andy Twyman is the master of the one man band; blending blues with comedy, rock and roll and a decent beat, he induces laughter and dancing wherever he goes. His lyrics are absurd and profound, his talent huge and totally original.

Psychedelic punk rock with elements of dance music and dub plus a smattering of eco-activism...
Buff will be unleashing their socially conscious anarcho-lyricism on us in 2019; fresh from the anti-fracking frontline they promise an enthralling experience (and remind us just a little bit of Culture Shock).

Matthew Frederick is a singer-songwriter, composer, pianist, guitarist and Climbing Trees frontman. Also a vegan with a beard. Hailing from the Rhondda Valley in South Wales, Matthew has performed with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and been shortlisted for the Welsh Music Prize.

Captain Starfighter & the Lockheeds: classic space rock with many a nod to Hawkwind; and, just possibly, a special guest...

FIRST CONFIRMED VENUES

We're delighted to announce the return of The Raconteurs' Delight.
Hosting performance-based workshops by day, family friendly entertainment early evenings, spoken word and cabaret acts by night... plus very special lunchtime guests and a steampunk themed cocktail and temperance bar (with all proceeds to the festival!).

The Voices of Gaia talkspace, new this year, will be back on the Village Green in 2019 with its programme of earthy and esoteric subjects from the magic and medicine of herbs to dowsing and shamanic wisdom.

In 2018 the festival's teenagers told us "the Teen Tent's great but it's way too small!" So, we're planning an expansion. The Mayflower Project will move across the Village Green to make room for a bigger tent, chill out space and more outdoor activities. Check out Listening to Young Voices for more info.

The Healing Circle will be back with yoga, chi gung and healing arts workshops; masseurs and complementary therapists on hand to take away the stresses of every day life; and gorgeous gardens where you can relax to the soothing sounds of harp, bhajan chanting or didgeridoo.

The Craft Island also returns, offering the chance to learn traditional crafts and gain practical skills for a sustainable life: blacksmithing, carpentry, stone carving, pottery, basketry, felting, tool sharpening, thatching and so much more!

We're not endorsing rampant shopping sprees but...

The Green Gathering is a festival and a community; an immersive, interactive showcase of skill sharing, creative solutions and off grid living... all powered by wind, sun, people and passion.

It's a festival beyond hedonism for people who love the earth enough to celebrate and save it; a place to party - then wake up and put the world to rights!

With an authentically uncommercial, family friendly and transformative experience, we aim to turn people on to community building, co-operation and
low impact solutions.
The festival is produced by Optimistic Trout Productions, a Community Interest Company, and commissioned by the Green Gathering charity (no. 1156593).

Use this link to switch to clean renewable energy with Ecotricity and we'll receive up to £60 towards making the festival even better, at no extra cost to you.
We're excited to announce The Green Gathering has received funding from the Welsh Government, in recognition of the positive impact we bring to Chepstow and beyond. This will help the festival become increasingly sustainable both financially and environmentally, while providing festival goers with a stepping stone into the fabulous countryside and culture of Wales.
