Neighbors,

In an effort to keep you informed about my work on the State Board of Education, I will provide regular monthly updates through this newsletter format. This is the first of many to come in the future. These newsletters will mostly provide information about important educational matters in Ward 5 and our city.

I am excited to share that I have been busy preparing for the launch of several committees that will work over the next four years to honor a key promise from my campaign: to bring our community together to improve and invest in our schools.

I look forward to sharing more information about these committees and the work ahead in the coming months.

As the holidays approach and work continues, I remain grateful for your confidence and support. As a token of that appreciation, I want to invite you to a simple gathering for campaign team members, volunteers, and supporters this Saturday afternoon. Let's reflect on what we accomplished together and celebrate the work ahead.

5-Star School Rating

This past Friday, OSSE released DC's new report card. While controversial and perceived as problematic by many in how they conflate school quality with performance on standardized tests, the report cards and star ratings are argued to provide DC families and communities more information about our schools.
