PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office announces the apprehension of George Holiday, 28 years of age from the City of Duquesne. Holiday has been wanted since Tuesday, December 4th, when a criminal bench warrant was issued due to a violation of probation/parole.
In October 2016, Holiday was charged with sexual assault, which he later pled guilty. The victim claimed that Holiday raped her in an apartment building parking lot. Holiday was sentenced in May 2017; part of which included probation.
On Tuesday evening, police were called to an address in Wilkinsburg where a female victim claimed that she had been assaulted by Holiday. She stated that after a verbal argument, Holiday had become irate and physically assaulted her, including choking her and threatening that he would kill her. Prior to police arriving at the address, Holiday had fled the scene. An arrest warrant was issued later that evening, including the charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and strangulation. Due to the warrant request for Tuesday’s incident, an additional warrant was issued for violating the terms of his probation.
Sheriff’s deputies, who had arrested Holiday on December 6, 2016 regarding the sexual assault case, developed information that Holiday was staying at a residence in the 700 block of Hill Avenue in Wilkinsburg. Around 9AM, deputies made contact with an occupant of the home, Theresa Jones-Carey, who claimed that Holiday was not staying there. After a significant conversation which deputies believe Jones-Carey to be untruthful about Holiday’s whereabouts, she eventually granted permission to search the residence; still maintaining Holiday was not present. After a brief search, deputies located Holiday hiding under a pile of clothes in a third floor bedroom closet. Deputies directed Holiday to show himself and his hands on multiple occasions with no cooperation from the fugitive. Subsequently, he was tased and taken into custody.
Holiday was transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he is being lodged on the probation violation. He will await arraignment on his new charges from Tuesday evening’s incident.
Additionally, Jones-Carey will be charged with hindering apprehension and conduct related to sexual offenders.
