Gregory Porter: Nat "King" Cole & Me

SATURDAY, DEC. 15, 7:30PM. MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM.

Two-time Grammy winner Gregory Porter sings the timeless songs of his greatest influence, Nat "King" Cole, in fresh arrangements by fellow Grammy winner Vince Mendoza that recreate the orchestral setting of Porter’s latest Blue Note album Nat "King" Cole & Me. Accompanying Porter is conductor Mike Galisatus, leading a swingin' jazz orchestra of Bay Area musicians.

Sonos Handbell Ensemble with Frederica Von Stade

SUNDAY, DEC. 16, 2:30PM. BING CONCERT HALL.

Christmas simply rings with bell music. It’s always seemed to go with the holiday, and Sonos Handbell Ensemble goes right along with it, concertizing worldwide. Mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade and the Young Musicians Choral Orchestra join in this tintinnabulating tribute to the holiday and rise to the artists’ impeccably exacting standards as they celebrate this season of joy.

The Anderson Collection and the Cantor Arts Center are open during winter break and are always free. Regular hours are: 
Monday: 11AM–5PM 
Tuesday: Closed
 Wednesday: 11AM–5PM 
Thursday: 11AM–8PM 
Friday-Sunday: 11AM–5PM

Holiday hours are:
December 24: 11AM–3PM 
December 25: closed
 December 31: 11AM–3PM
January 1: closed

Fall open studios and screenings

3-5PM AND 5-6PM. MCMURTRY BUILDING AND STANFORD ART GALLERY.

After working in relative privacy for most of the quarter, Stanford students of art and art history open their studio doors from 3-5 p.m. and invite you to see their work in the space it was created. At 5 p.m., students enrolled in "Film Production 114: Introduction to Film & Video Production" screen their short films in Oshman Hall.

Developed as the follow-up film to Megumi Sasaki’s award-winning documentary Herb & Dorothy (2008) that moved millions of art-lovers worldwide, Herb & Dorothy 50 x 50 captures the last chapter of Herb and Dorothy Vogel’s extraordinary life and their gift to the nation.
