Winter Fair - Thank you
I would like to thank all parents and carers who helped make last weeks Winter Fair so memorable. So many parents put so much effort and energy into this day, which acts both as a community event and a fundraiser.

Phase C Christmas Concert

We are looking forward to the Phase C Christmas Concert on Thursday 13th Dec at 6pm. Please collect your child from school at the normal 3.30pm or 4.45pm if they are in a club. They then need to be brought back to Fox at 5.30pm, where they will be looked after by their class teacher in their classroom and then brought down to the hall in time for the 6pm start.   Please ensure your child is dressed in smart dark bottoms (trousers/skirts/leggings) and either their blue Fox PE t-shirt or house t-shirt.
At the end of the concert, children will then be taken out to the playground and dismissed normally by their class teacher.

Reading Gladiators
The next Year 2/3 and Year 4/5 Reading Gladiator sessions are taking place next week.

Year 2/3 - Horace and Harriet - Monday 10th December at 3:45 - 4:30

Year 4/5 - Town is by the Sea - Tuesday 11th December at 3:45 - 4:30

These sessions are a fantastic opportunity to develop adventurous reading choices, sustained reading for pleasure, purpose and understanding, and engage parents and carers with their children’s reading.

It's not too late to read the book and get involved!

(Younger siblings cannot attend the sessions and children must be accompanied by an adult. Each adult can accompany up to 3 children, but please discuss this with each child's parents/carers and the children themselves so they know who is responsible for them.)

With the upcoming holidays, it's a great time to be reading for pleasure.  I'm sure many families will be giving and receiving books over the holiday period.   The 'Calvin and Hobbes' comic strip collections are classics, sure to delight kids and adults alike... They are decades old, but hold their fantastic charm, adventure and insight.  These comic strips follow the adventures of Calvin, a rambunctious 6 year old, and his stuffed tiger, Hobbes, who comes to life when they are alone.   Other humorous comic strips include 'The Simpsons' and 'Garfield', all of which are cheaply available on e-bay, amazon seconds and charity shops.

Design a Foxy Umbrella!

HAASCH ECO UMBRELLA RANGE
An umbrella to live with, an umbrella to love: a stylish, planet-friendly sustainable series of umbrellas for protection from rain and sun.
A planet-friendly umbrella.

At a time where the deluge of plastic has become one of our most pressing concerns, we must urgently look for ways of choosing alternatives to plastic or of using it recycled. In a country where it rains a lot (for now) the umbrella is a particular challenge. Most cheap umbrellas are discarded quickly as they fall apart, filling the landfill with metal and plastic.
Ex-Fox mother and her sister-in-law, the Australian designer Alison Schutt, creator of the sustainable design brand HAASCH conceived of a series of umbrellas that would not be hurting the planet.
We would like to sell these as part of the ever increasing Fox merchandise. We are asking the children of Fox to design a Fox which could feature as the character on the umbrella.
Every Fox  child has been given a template to design their own Fox. Ms Flegg, assisted by the Head Boy and Girl, will help choose a winning design to go on the umbrella.
Designs must be returned by Designs must be returned by Monday 10th December!
Fox Clubs
We feel that we have improved the club booking system every year to try and ensure fairness to as many parent groups and children as possible.
We offer more clubs than any other local primary school and try and ensure access to these for as many children as possible. The fact that they are so over subscribed shows that the children really enjoy them, that they are good quality and excellent value for money.

For those who did not get their children into a club(s), we operate a waiting list system prioritizing these children into the club next term.

I am always open to suggestions on how to improve the booking system, but parents must understand that anything proposed cannot consume huge amounts of extra time.
Year 5 Charity Project - Shoe Share
Year 5, we are organising a charitable event to raise money for UNICEF, who support children’s education across the world. We would like you to bring in any old, or unwanted shoes from home. Please make sure:
· There are no holes
· There are no broken soles
· The shoes need to be paired with a rubber band
You can bring in shoes until Monday 17th December (that is the next 2 weeks). Year 5 will deliver them to our nearest Clarks shoe shop. Clarks then re-use and recycle your shoes. The more shoes you bring in, the more money Clarks donate to UNICEF. Tell everyone you know to donate any of their old ,or unwanted shoes. They can be children’s or adult’s shoes in any style! Shoe share – it’s a step in the right direction!
