Hightstown Walkability Audit

On November 29, 2018, GMTMA staff along with Hightstown’s Streets and Sidewalk Committee, town council, public works, municipal engineer, Chief of Police, Downtown Business Association and Mercer County planning participated in a walkability audit in the downtown area.

A walkability audit can help the community identify walking barriers and learn about traffic conditions at certain times of the day, at high incident crash locations, around schools, downtowns etc., and identify needed improvements to include in grant application for improvement projects.
If you need help conducting a walkability and/or bikeability audit in your community, contact us.
Supporting a Vision Zero Policy

GMTMA is advocating for the adoption of Vision Zero policies, resolutions and strategies and was excited that Lawrence Township Health Advisory Board adopted a Vision Zero policy at their November 28th meeting.Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and serious injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. Thanks to Morgan Pesanelli, a Masters Candidate at Rutgers School of Public Health and Carol Chamberlain, Lawrence’s Health Officer for bringing attention to this public health crisis.

OCEANSMART Program Kick Off

With a grant from the Community Foundation of South Jersey Aging Innovation Fund,
NJTIP@Rutgers held its OCEANSMART (Ocean Senior Mobility and Resource Training) Program kickoff on November 28, 2018. The program is a free seminar designed to teach professionals, volunteers, and community members who work with older adults about public transportation options and features and using transportation network companies.
Greater Mercer TMA is an OCEANSMART partner together with Rutgers Bloustein School, Ocean Ride, and Lyft.
