Detours For People
Did you know that Denver's construction detour policies are up for review? You can help Denver Public Works, the Mayor's Pedestrian Advisory Committee (MPAC), and WalkDenver create future policy by mapping any pedestrian/bike/transit construction-related detours you see in Denver at bit.ly/detoursforpeople. Simply snap a photo, and answer a few survey questions about the detour. We're looking for both bad and great examples of detours in Denver. Every data point helps - share yours today!

Vision Zero on the Streets!

New Traffic Calming Installations in Montbello: New traffic-calming pedestrian medians were installed this month as part of Denver's Vision Zero committment to eliminate traffic deaths by 2030. This stretch of Albrook Drive in Montbello is dangerous for people walking, with high speeds and few places to cross the street. A pedestrian was killed in a crash here last year. The new flashing beacons and island help draw attention to people walking on and crossing the street.

New Art Installations on Federal Blvd: The Vision Zero installations we painted last month were installed at Federal and Decatur. “Community members along Federal Boulevard have long expressed anxiety about the safety of this thoroughfare through their neighborhoods. Our project elevates this voice and serves as a visual cue to drivers to slow down for the people who call this place home," Councilwoman Debbie Ortega said in a news release. “This is the most dangerous stretch of road in Denver and I am focused on connecting the goals of Vision Zero with changes along Federal Boulevard that are led by the community.” Check out the write-up in the Wash Park Profile, and head down to Decatur-Federal Station to check them out for yourself!
