Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida
By Erin Roche, Intake Assistant
In 1991, parents of children with Down Syndrome were inspired to found the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida, which has now grown to provide resources for families and people with Down Syndrome in ten Florida counties. They work to provide activities and resources for all ages. For example, they have facilitated the Entrepreneur Academy.
This Program gives teens and adults with Down Syndrome the opportunity to create and build their own micro-businesses in the Central Florida community! Programs like this put these teens and adults on the path to financial independence and give the individuals a sense of empowerment.
