Mark Finley Delivers Missionary Book Manuscript

On Monday, November 26, Mark Finley delivered the manuscript for the 2020 missionary book of the year. The book, Hope Beyond Tomorrow, focuses on the Second Coming of Jesus, and describes how to experience unending joy, everlasting peace, and eternal happiness. This book will be presented to leaders during the 2019 Spring Meeting at the General Conference.Then it will be translated and published in various languages and distributed worldwide. Hope Beyond Tomorrow will be distributed en mass at the 2020 General Conference session in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Hope Impact in Curaçao

A book in every home! The motto of the Missionary Book project seems to be a reality in the small island of Curaçao. More than 43,000 copies of The Power of Hope were distributed on Sabbath, November 17.
Curaçao has about 160,000 inhabitants. It contains 22 churches and 8,000 members. This mass distribution translates into at least one book for every four people, an average of one book for every home.
It is not unusual for Curaçao to have such a high per capita distribution of missionary literature. Below are statistics of their last four years of distribution.
2015: 100,000 copies of Health and Hope
2016: 130.500 copies of the magazine Priorities and 4,000 Steps to Christ
2017: 58,500 copies of Hope lost, Hope found
2018: 43,700 copies of The Power of Hope
The entire Dutch Caribbean Union (comprising the Curaçao Conference and the Aruba and Bonaire Missions) distributed more than 56,000 copies to nearly 97,000 homes. This territory is home to those who speak Papiamento, Spanish, Dutch, English, French, and Chinese.

NAD Appoints Literature Ministry Director

During the North American Division (NAD) year-end meeting, Carl McRoy was elected to serve as Literature Ministry director, a position that has been vacant for seven years, according to Daniel Jackson, president of the NAD. McRoy is Publishing Ministries director of the South Atlantic Conference, where he also serves as an interim pastor.

Health Expo in Zambian Parliament Building

The Home Health Education Service, in conjunction with the Southern Zambia Union (SZU) Health Ministries department, held a health expo and book distribution in the Zambian Parliamentary building.
The expo, which took place last month, involved appointments with all ministers, members of parliament, and employees. The joint effort involved three Adventist medical doctors and four top-selling literature evangelists from the Lusaka Conference. More than 30 ministers were screened for various health issues including diabetes, hypertension, eye disorders, and cancer.
During the expo, 56 books were sold and more than 200 copies were ordered; in addition, 240 copies of The Power of Hope were given to members of parliament. The conference has been challenged to write a letter to officially request the government to grant permission to supply books to all the 143 constituencies across the country.
Ellen White wrote: "Take the books to businessmen, to teachers of the gospel, whose minds have not been called to the special truths for this time. The message is to be given 'in the highways,'—to [men and women] who take an active part in the world’s work, to the teachers and leaders of the people" (Colporteur Ministry, p. 39).

British Union Hosts Bible Worker's Convention

The British Union Conference set aside a weekend to inspire, equip, and encourage lay Bible workers to volunteer to share the Adventist message throughout the United Kingdom. The event was held on November 23-25 at the De Vere Conference Centre in Staverton, near London.
Almir Marroni, General Conference Publishing Ministries director, was invited to present seminars on literature distribution as a strategic activity to involve every church member in mission. Approximately 400 lay Bible workers attended the meetings, among which 20 were literature evangelists. They were encouraged to promote missionary book distribution as part of the church’s yearly calendar of activities.
Elisabeth Sanguesa, Stanborough Press manager, stated that every year 250,000 sharing books are distributed by Adventists in the United Kingdom. Let’s pray for the growth of this silent but powerful ministry.
