A message from Pastor Fran
Advent blessings, everyone! Christmas Eve will soon be here, and you are invited to attend worship at Clemson UMC at 4:00pm, 6:00pm, or 11:00pm. Or, you are invited to worship at more than one service at CUMC if you would like!
Every year we are entertained by many Christmas movies – especially the old favorites that we enjoy year after year. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was a childhood favorite of mine, and I still enjoy watching the delightful movie. The scenes that make me pause and ponder the most are the scenes on “Misfit Island” – the place where unwanted or slightly imperfect toys are left behind, cast off as not worthy of a Christmas night delivery by Santa.
Of course, in the end, they are all gathered up and shared worthily with the rest of the world.
I know, I know. It’s just a quaint little movie that delights us and becomes part of the tradition, but it offers a huge message for us all.
What if this Christmas Eve you just randomly or intentionally invited persons outside your circle of family and friends. Perhaps there is someone who may feel like there’s no room in the Church for them. Perhaps there is someone who has been cast aside for any number of reasons. Or, perhaps there is someone who simply has never experienced the light and love of Christ the way we do with one another at Christmas. Perhaps there are persons who feel like misfits in God’s creation that simply need to be invited to come to the manger with us this year.
If you want to be a part of a church that always has room for one more precious child of God…come to Clemson UMC!
Advent and Christmas blessings,
Pastor Fran
