From our Pastors...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! As we walk or drive through our neighbourhoods and see the decorations and lights going up and people getting ready for Christmas, we reflect on this year and how we can bring something of the love of God into every home in our city.

This Year has been a year of change, we have been so encouraged by how the CV family have got behind the new Neighbourhood Initiative, of which Neighbourhood Sundays are just a part. Neighbourhood Initiative began as a desire to be more intentional about loving our neighbours where we live and work.

In investigating how this might look we came across a Vineyard Pastor called Lynn Cory, he just so happened to have written a book called Neighbourhood Initiative and the Love of God , which gives some very real and practical ways in how to be outward focused as a community. Over the past two years, Lynn has become a friend and he and a whole team of intercessors are praying for us regularly. You can read more about Neighbourhood Initiative [here].

Last Sunday evening we met with our Neighbourhood leaders and heard some wonderful stories of we as a church family are reaching out and expressing the love of God to our neighbours. We are excited to see what God is going to continue to do this Christmas time and next year.

In the New Year we encourage you to join us praying and fasting for our neighbours, our neighbourhoods and our church. We plan to join with other Vineyard Leaders across the UK & Ireland to fast and pray that God's Kingdom would come. This is simply an invitation to fast from food for a particular time (e.g. we will have the one meal each day, Fri 4th to Fri 25th Jan) or fast from something else, for 21 days. During this time we want to be open to what God is saying to us as a church and as part of a wider family of Vineyard churches.

We pray that God would bless you this Christmas time and that you would know the love and peace of Jesus in your heart and your home and that you would experience the nearness of His Holy Spirit.

-Nick & Vicki

We run a mini food bank out of Mill Street for CAP clients.
Our stocks are severely depleted and we need your help!

Would you consider putting together a food parcel? We have some brown 'Instant Bags' (available from a red box at Sidney Stringer) which you can take away and fill.

Just return them by:
- Dropping them in the big green bin in the garage at Mill Street, or
- Bringing them to Sidney Stringer on a Sunday and pop it back in the red box.

Here's a list of helpful items you can pop in the bag:
  • Breakfast cereals
  • Soup
  • Pasta/Rice/Noodles
  • Pasta sauce
  • Tinned meat/fish/veg/fruit (not fresh)
  • Cereal Bars
  • Cup-a (Soup)
  • Tea / coffee
  • Toiletries
  • Feminine hygiene products
Whether you can provide the whole lot or just a few items, your help is greatly appreciated and will make a big difference to those in need.

Witness the birth of GrowBaby!
As a way of showing God’s extravagant love in a practical way, we will be launching GrowBaby at Mill Street in the New Year. This will be made available to anyone in need. Other churches have found this really engages people and has led to many other community initiatives. For details click [HERE].

How can you help?
- Pray - That we meet with those in our community that need our help.
- Donate - Do you have baby/children’s items (in good condition) you no longer need? Have you seen any useful items in your local charity shop? If so, please bring them to Mill street or give them to Zia at Stringer Stringer on a Sunday morning. Please also spread the word to others who have things to donate.
- Give - You can also give financially to this initiative. Please mark any monetary donations as being specifically for GrowBaby.
- Volunteer - Get involved with sorting clothes or giving them out and building community with families – either chat to Zia or email her for more information.
- Publicise - Please talk to your neighbours and friends about this, and spread the word to anyone you think would benefit from this. We will soon have leaflets and posters available to give/display.

Thanks in advance!
