Opening Times at VAS and Sanford House

The VAS office at John Street closes today at 4.30pm, and reopens at 9:30am on Wednesday 2nd January.

The main Sanford House reception and Citizens Advice Swindon reception at Sanford House will close at 1pm on Monday 24th December, and will reopen at 9:30am on Wednesday 2nd January.

Swindon Pharmacies Open Over Christmas

It's not just Santa Claus who will be hard at work this festive season, plenty of pharmacists across Swindon will be on hand to offer help and support on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

People needing medical advice, help with a prescription or details of where to go for further care or treatment, will be able to call in on a number of pharmacies in Swindon on the days when many others in the town will be closed.

Community Projects - Share Your Experience

It can be confusing for people running community projects to find the right information, advice and support. There are so many organisations, tools and websites, it can be difficult to know where to look. A partnership of 10 community sector support organisations, including Locality, Power to Change, New Economics Foundation and NAVCA, have come together to make it easier.

2018 in Review: Charity Digital Stats Not to Miss

As we approach the end of 2018, Charity Digital News have provided some facts and figures every charity should know, including:

  • Demands for services increased for four out of five organisations last year, and there is no sign of any let-up on the squeeze on charities’ time
  • While people are giving more to charities than ever, income generation and financial sustainability is the biggest obstacle for over half of organisations
  • Less than half of charities are able to effectively analyse the data they collect on donors, volunteers and service users

Funding Opportunities


Help the Homeless Grants

Grants up to £5,000 for capital projects provided by small UK charities that enable people who are homeless to rebuild their lives. Projects must assist individuals in their return to mainstream society, rather than simply offering shelter or other forms of sustenance. Small and medium sized registered UK charities may apply for a grant of up to £5,000. Larger awards are occasionally made. The next application deadline is Friday 15th March.

The Cuthbert Horn Trust

Grants up to £4,000 for UK registered charities for general charitable purposes. Previous grants have been for conservation, education, environmental and nature protection, mental health, help for disadvantaged children, music, research, transport, and veterans of the armed forces. Applications, which are considered once each year by the Trust, should be made in writing addressed to:

Building Bridges Programme Administrator at Community First

Community First are looking for an individual who is extremely organised and can support the Building Bridges Programme Manager to effectively deliver the £3.88M Building Bridges programme, jointly funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund.

The role will be to provide administrative assistance and general support to the Building Bridges Programme Manager, including administration of the financial claims process across all programme delivery partners.

The role is Devizes based, for 36.50 hours per week. Fixed term contract, with potential to extend subject to funding – £20,456 gross per annum. Closing date is midday, 14th January 2019. Interviews will be held on 22nd January 2019.
