The Villages® Community Leads Nation in Key Census Areas

The Villages® community metropolitan statistical area leads the United States in categories such as most mature population, most owner-occupied housing and highest percentage of residents on Medicare. It is also near the top in several other categories, according to the five-year American Community Survey, released by the Census Bureau. It's based on data collected from 2013 to 2017 and is considered the gold standard for measuring population, income, poverty and housing data.

Sumter Students Get Introduced to Computer Coding

Sumter County Schools recently hosted a coding challenge.  This activity introduces students to coding and computer science by allowing them to create apps and games of their own, in a fun and informative setting.  With strong demand projections for workers in the areas of computer science and computer programming, these early exposures can spark a young person's interest and perhaps lead to a fulfilling career.
