New Local Plan - last chance for responses

REMINDER: If you haven’t written to TRDC then this the last chance.  The consultation period ends in just two days at 5pm on Friday 21st December 2018.

Every response matters!

Responses to the consultation can be submitted in writing in one of the following ways:

  • By email to: trldf@threerivers.gov.uk
  • By post to: Economic & Sustainable Development, Three Rivers District Council, Three Rivers House, Northway, Rickmansworth, Herts  WD3 1RL

TRDC have asked that you include your name and address when responding.

You can find out more information on the New Local Plan page of our website including our detailed reviews of the sites.

On 18th December Chorleywood Residents' Association made its own representation to TRDC.  A copy of this can be viewed on our website here.

Thanks to all our readers and the residents of Chorleywood for making their views known about the proposed sites and potential 3000 new homes in Chorleywood.

Chorleywood Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan

Currently there is a parallel but separate consultation being undertaken on the Chorleywood Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) which also ends this Friday, 21st December. The NDP operates at a lower level than the Local Plan and cannot directly conflict with it but provides the Parish with the ability to influence design and form of development within the area.

Copies of the plan and further information on how to respond to it can be found at www.chorleywood-pc.gov.uk/neighbourhood-plan.

The Chorleywood Resident Magazine

The winter edition of our flagship magazine The Chorleywood Resident has recently been delivered to all households, including flats and homes for the elderly, in the Parish of Chorleywood. If you haven’t received your copy, please let us know by emailing newsletter@chorleywoodresidents.co.uk making sure to include your address.

The current and previous issues of the magazine are available in PDF format on our website.

Local Worker Parking Permits

Many people who work in our local shops and businesses have no alternative but to park on the road and move their cars every 2 hours.  Unfortunately this takes up valuable parking spaces for shoppers as well as being a cause of stress and inconvenience for the worker.

To help resolve the situation TRDC are evaluating how a Local Worker Parking Permit scheme could be implemented.

Unfortunately the process to evaluate this new scheme, which was expected to be completed by the end of 2018, has been delayed as there is now a requirement for TRDC to demonstrate the current parking pressure in any of the streets that would be affected.  At the moment TRDC do not have this data so are carrying out the necessary surveys. TRDC have told us that they hope to publish definite proposals in January, subject to committee timescales.

Chorleywood House Estate - Volunteering opportunities

Chorleywood House Estate comprises 160 acres of open space opposite Chorleywood Cricket Club on the A404 and goes right down to the River Chess.

Working parties meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday mornings each month. The start time is 09:30 until 12:30 with time for a break always for some tea/coffee and CAKE!

There is no age limit - several are in late 70’s, and one volunteer is over 80!

You don’t have to come to every session  - just come when you can, or if that week’s task interests you.  We send out an email a couple of days before saying what we’ll be doing, where to meet, and what to bring.

Get in touch with Tim Venner by email at timvenner@aol.com or phone 01923-284320 if you’d like to know a bit more about what we do, or would like to join our happy band keeping the Estate beautiful, and accessible to visitors.

The Russell School, Chorleywood - New Governors needed

In 2019, two long standing governors will complete their term of office and the school is looking for people to fill these posts.

The Russell School is a strong school with an emphasis on inclusion, valuing every pupil and the staff. The governors and the Headteacher have ambitious plans to deliver ever higher standards of education to the pupils now and into the future. The governing board sets the strategic direction of the school, providing ideas, support and direction to the school, in close collaboration with the Headteacher and staff.

The school is fortunate to have governors from a wide range of backgrounds and skills and would welcome similar candidates, especially those with previous experience in education.

To find out more, please contact Mrs. Claire Pitt, Headteacher and Mr. Doug King, Chair of Governors via head@russell.herts.sch.uk
