Happy Holidays!

Dear Friends,

these lasts months have been for us very intense.
This is why we made it just in time for the season greetings!

WAITING FOR 2019: THE YEAR OF LEONARDO

The first anniversary of the opening of the Louvre in Abu Dabi has passed and the painting that has surpassed all auction records and was greeted as the 17th Leonardo, is not yet exposed within the museum. And almost no day passes that some news does not appear on the presumed incorrect autography.

The painting, almost as "expensive" as "mysterious", and its history, are vividly described in the last book by Pierluigi Panza, who presented it, together with Prof. Bonsanti, at the Academy of Art and Drawing in Florence. A fascinating story. In closing, it was underlined how the mysteries of this painting did not end with that hammering at the Christie's New York headquarters, indeed since then the curiosity about the buyer's identity and the social and political shadows, the news of the exposure to Abu Dabi, then the silence on this, and especially the validity of the attribution of the painting, have been objects of speculation throughout the world.
The restoration was also presented on the occasion of the exhibition at the National Gallery in London, and the technical data were published. But is the diagnostic set of tests complete? In the absence of a definitely autograph signature, who determines the attribution? These are indeed still unanswered questions.

After 500 years since his death, Leonardo still makes headlines.

And we close this year with the hope of adding some undisclosed pieces of information next year: 2019, the year of Leonardo

Art trasmitted to the future

The “Salita al Calvario” shines again. The majestic and impressive work of Vasari, which had become almost illegible due to the deposits of atmospheric particulate, mixed with the now degraded varnishes, and, last but not least, due to the consequences of the 1966 flood.

Saturday, November 24, during the conference "The Art transmitted to the future", organized by the Opera di Santa Croce and the CESIFIN Foundation, the restoration, which the project "In name of Michelangelo" has generously supported, was presented to the public.

Art-Test Florence contributed with its diagnostic investigations.
Always fascinating to bring to light the preparatory drawing of a master like Vasari!

We like  going to school!

One of the objectives of our work, one of the main ones, is to support the restorers before, during and after a restoration.
The knowledge necessary for a responsible restoration intervention derive, today more than ever, from the sum of many different professional skills.

The role of diagnostics is increasingly evident, starting from the traditional and simpler ones,  up to analyses carried out with the newest devices.

Certainly it is not always necessary to employ all available techniques. The project economy always has limits (budget, time) and these must be respected.

This, and more, aims to illustrate the course that the Sandra Pucci Restorer holds at the "Pontormo" higher education institution in Empoli.

"PROPEDEUTICAL COURSE FOR CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE" is the title of the persuit during which, starting from October 10, practical lessons and interventions on the theory are weekly given.

Art-Test Florence, last December 12, spoke of "diagnostics for restoration": why investigate? How to choose which analysis performp? What data do you consider effective? And how can we make the most of the project limits we mentioned earlier?

It was a success and a satisfaction.
We are at your disposal if you want to organize something like this! Do not hesitate to call us!

FAKE BUSTERS!

On November 18th, Art-Test Florence gave a lecture entitled

"Scientific techniques for dating of artistic and architectural goods, identification of the origin and recognition of fakes - Case studies", as a formative moment within the "Master in Judicial Archeology and Crimes against Cultural Heritage", promoted by "Center for the Criminologists, juridical and sociological studies, department of Cultural Heritage and Archeomafie " in collaboration with" Osservatorio Internazionale Archeomafie ".

The students were presented with the multiplicity of analytical aspects concerning non-authentic works, starting from the concept of forgery, up to a series of case studies in which the various analytical techniques were applied.

We happy to remind you that the registrations are open to the 5th edition of the Master (in Italian), here all the useful information:
