Coming up in the queue: I'll be using these vibrant prints from Fortune Teller for my January Island Batik Ambassador project. No plan yet, but here's a glimpse of the rep sample that I made last August before I was able to show off this line that was released at Fall Quilt Market.
I love that I'm starting to see the variety of values in my blocks. This has been a really fun project to work on and I love it even more since all the fabrics came out of my stash.
Last week I talked about chain piecing while I'm working on a variety of projects at once. Another reason I like multiple projects is that I don't get bored as easily. I'm piecing three projects at the moment. My Improv Tumbler project is approaching the finished quilt top stage. I am amazed at how much it is shrinking up as it gets pieced together. I think I'll have to work with supersize tumblers for my next Improv Tumbler quilt. Or maybe just a million little tumblers. Something to ponder.
The third project under my needle currently is my scrap sewing project. I added a green block to the pile this week. My son is sewing on this project too. We started working on completing the rainbow and I realized we were a little short on "I Spy" worthy scraps in warm colors, so my friend Mel delivered some of hers to me yesterday. I'm excited to share those with my son and work on more blocks in the coming weeks. I think we may just have a goal of 12 blocks for our project. Oh, I'm also working in some charity blocks as leaders and enders. So I guess I'm really working on four things. :-)
I got some undesirable news this week. None of my four submissions will be headed to QuiltCon in February. There were over 1750 submissions and room for about 400. My quilts are in really amazing company which you can see over on Instagram at #quiltconreject. While it's a real bummer to wake up to an email inbox full of "not selected" emails. I'm thrilled to be taking these quilts around with me as I lecture. They get to go to Tehachapi Mountain Quilters next, when we (the quilts and I) drive down to speak and teach on January 7-8, 2019. I'm also looking into other shows to submit to. I've only submitted my work to QuiltCon, PIQF, and our local SCVQA quilt shop (which is also coming up in May!).
I'm looking forward to spending the Christmas holiday with family. One of the things we really love to do when we are together is play board games. I posted about some of my favorites. And I shared the Easy Peanut Butter Bar recipe that I made for an annual cookie exchange party which I attended this week. Such a tasty tradition!
Happy Holidays,

Back and Forth is designed to feature a medium to large scale print, surrounded by coordinating fabrics. It works well with a variety of solids or blenders. It's the perfect size for a baby or as a cuddle quilt for a toddler.
