The Nippon Foundation-POGO Centre of Excellence (NF-POGO CofE) provides world class education and training courses in the field of observational oceanography, since 2008. Starting in 2013, the NF-POGO CofE has been hosted by the Alfred Wegener Institute, Germany's foremost polar and marine research institution. The next training programme (NF-POGO cofE Phase III) will start in autumn 2019. The call is open until 1 March 2019.

The Ocean Teacher Global Academy is hosting a training course on the discovery and use of operational ocean data products and services. This course will provide knowledge and hands-on experience for the data, satellites and instrumentation, access and formats, tools and software for operational activities.
Using Modelling of Scale Effects as a Tool for Experimental Design
This course will train researchers in the use of numerical models as efficient tools for designing experiments and gaining a better understanding of the interaction between biological and physical factors within aquaculture research. The successful applicants will utilize stable silica isotope measurements to investigate biosilicification in fossil material from deep time together with supporting geochemical and geological proxies.

The Lyell Centre for Earth and Marine Science and Technology (UK) are offering a PhD studentship examining microbial drivers of coralline algae ecosystem function. This project will combine advanced microbial ecology, biogeochemistry and ecological techniques to investigate the role of microbial communities in driving ecosystem function in maerl beds.

The EU project Green Bubbles is seeking scientific divers to complete a questionnaire for research purposes. The survey will help to outline the profile of scientific divers and the main methodologies they apply. Results of this survey will be made publicly available to improve and update the training of scientific divers, to enhance international collaborations and increase safety at work.
